If the sound does not match the video you are watching, it may take some time before you notice it. But once you have done so, it is impossible to ignore it and you will want to find a solution immediately.

You may have similar video synchronization problems under Windows. However, diagnosing the cause of the problem is a process that is relatively similar to that of your television and audio-visual equipment.

Here’s the bad news: There are a lot of things that can cause lip synchronization problems, but we hope the councils here will isolate the problem and hopefully fix it for free.

Check your player/browser software

If something does not work as expected in a browser, the first reaction is usually to try another one. I did this just to find out that this audio/video synchronization problem was occurring in all (large) browsers. I tested the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Edge. I also tested the Netflix Windows application. They were all affected in the same way.

Try to play another TV show or film.

Sometimes, audio and video on YouTube are out of sync because the content you are playing is incorrect. So you can try watching another TV show or movie to see if the problem really exists.

If the other content is working correctly, you can report any defective video content to YouTube (simply click on your profile image > Send feedback).
If audio and video are still not synchronized with other TV shows or movies, continue with correction 2.

Adjusting the audio settings

There are several other ways to solve audio synchronization problems under Windows 10. One of them is to adjust your audio settings to the appropriate quality. Please note that the audio settings depend on your hardware and may differ from those of other computers. Please follow the steps below to solve the problem:

  1. Right-click on the audio icon in the taskbar at the bottom right of your desktop and select Playback Devices.
  2. Highlight the audio device you are using and click the Properties button.
  3. Another window opens. Click on the Advanced tab.
  4. Select DVD Quality, then click OK.

Installing the Microsoft High Definition Audio Device Driver

  1. Start the device manager by searching for “Device Manager” in the Start menu.
  2. Expand the Sound, Video and Game Controllers node to find the Realtek Audio device, then right-click it and select Properties.
  3. In the next dialog box, go to the Driver tab and select Update Driver.
  4. Select the option “Check the driver software on my computer”.
  5. Select “Let me choose from a list of drivers available on my computer.
  6. Disable the “Show compatible hardware” option to force the display to include drivers that have not been written by Realtek (all versions that are affected by this problem).
  7. Select “Microsoft” from the first drop-down list on the left (the list of manufacturers), then select “High Definition Audio Device” from the resulting list in the drop-down list on the left (the devices), then click Next.
  8. A warning dialog box will appear to prevent you from selecting a driver that has not been written by
  9. Realtek and is specifically designed for your PC sound card. That’s fine, we use Microsoft’s own drivers and they are guaranteed to work, so press “Yes” to continue.
  10. Windows will start updating the driver and installing the driver you have selected.

Disable HPET in BIOS

High Precision Event Timer is simply a hardware timer that is used in PCs. It offers more accuracy and resolution in interrupt generation. Users have reported that disabling this timer in the BIOS works wonders for audio and video problems outside of synchronization and they magically disappear!

CONCLUSION

The audio must now be synchronized with the videos you want to play. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to let us know.
