How to use Realtek HD Audio Manager to improve the sound of your PC

The Realtek high definition audio driver is one of the most used audio drivers offering high quality DTS, Dolby, Surround sound. This driver has a number of features and functionality, such as a six-channel digital-to-analog (DAC) converter that fully supports the 16/20/24-bit pulse code modulation format for 5.1-channel audio. Realtek HD Audio Driver is normally required for your audio device to work. The company released the latest audio drivers a month before Windows 10 was released to keep pace with the modified desktop environment.

When you install this driver on your PC, you will receive Realtek HD Audio Manager, which you can use to adjust and play the PC sound. In this manual, we will explore the Realtek HD Audio Manager Portal to configure the speakers and microphone on your PC.

Realtek HD Audio Manager

This software is installed with the package on your PC when you install a Realtek HD Audio Driver. You can start the software from the taskbar by simply double-clicking the Speaker icon .

Alternatively, you can start the program from your system drive:

The name of the executable file may vary depending on the version of the installed software.

Let’s examine them one by one.

1] Speakers tab

Use this tab to adjust the speaker settings on your PC. In section Main Volume, you can adjust the system volume or balance the audio output of the left and right speakers using the slider provided. You can also mute the speakers using the Mute button.

Below are three tabs in which you can configure the type of audio playback on your PC.

In this tab, you can test the stereo output of the speaker or headphones connected to the PC. As soon as you click the play button, the left and right speaker outputs are tested by playing back an example audio clip. You can determine if differences exist by comparing the results for each of them. You can also use headphone virtualization, which uses advanced processing to create the illusion of a home theater while using stereo headphones. This is the same as the Surround Sound system. In addition, you can also configure the use of broadband speakers.

Sound effects

Use the functions on this tab to apply effects to the sound output. It offers you a long list of environmental effects available with volume compensation to reduce perceived volume differences. You can choose from a variety of options to enhance the sound of your speakers/headphones with impressive ambient effects. You can also use a native equalizer (16) and a voice canceling function to adjust the sound effect to your liking.

Standard format

Use this tab to select the default sound quality in terms of sampling rate and bit depth. If you are using an audio CD or DVD, you can adjust the sound format with the options CD Format and DVD Format.

2] Microphone tab

In this section, you can configure the operation of microphones on your PC. You will find below the sections available to induce effects for microphones :

Microphone effects

It suppresses static background noise during audio recording. You can also reduce the acoustic echo of the front speakers during recording. These functions help you record clear audio data.

Standard format

As with speaker settings, this function allows you to select the default format for sound quality.

Modulating these settings to suit your needs can help you get the most out of your speakers and microphones. You can even control the power supply to modulate these parameters using the built-in Power Management option.

Clicking the small battery icon at the bottom left opens the Power Management window, where you can turn off changes when your PC is battery powered.
