Firefox Containers allow you to classify your browsing activities and divide cookies and other browser memories. Essentially, they prevent websites from tracking your Internet browsing and prevent them from searching for and tracking you outside of their own Containers. This is an excellent alternative to deleting your cookies and cache or rejecting cookies, as this can damage many websites.
What are Firefox Containers?
A unique way to prevent cookies from tracking you is to isolate them, just as we do to keep them in different containers. But in this case we use Firefox Containers. Note that you can also block all third-party cookies in the browser, and this should also apply to most cookie-based tracking.
You may have one Container for Google, another for Twitter, another for Amazon, one for your bank, another for PayPal, and so on. Each of these containers acts like a digital container that holds the cookies for the website you want to visit. Your Amazon cookie is limited to its container, your bank’s cookie to its container, and so on. Do you understand? This means that none of the websites have access to the cookies or history of other websites. This greatly enhances your privacy.
December 2024 Update:
You can now prevent PC problems by using this tool, such as protecting you against file loss and malware. Additionally, it is a great way to optimize your computer for maximum performance. The program fixes common errors that might occur on Windows systems with ease - no need for hours of troubleshooting when you have the perfect solution at your fingertips:
- Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (Windows 10, 8, 7, XP, Vista – Microsoft Gold Certified).
- Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
- Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.
Another advantage of using Firefox Containers is that you can use multiple accounts if you have more than one account on the same service. While you’re at it, you should also use uBlock Origin to prevent malicious banner ads and scripts from following you.
Using Firefox Containers
Once you have installed the Container extension, you can start experimenting with the operation of the containers.
Let’s start with a practical example. If you frequently use YouTube or Google Drive, you’re probably still signed in to your Google Account. While this is necessary for services that require it, the search works even without a logged-in user. Only Google benefits from connected searches because it can associate searches with your account and create a clearer ad profile. Let them turn it off.
- When we open “google.com”, we see that we’re logged in by default.
- Click on the Container extension icon and click on the “+” button in the bottom right corner
- Name and customize your new container
- click on the extension icon and click on the newly created container
- go to google.com in your new container Note that we are disconnected from Google in this new container. Our login status is stored in the default Container, but not in the Google Container. They remain separate.
Conclusion
Container tabs can be used to protect your privacy by cutting your online life into pieces. They can also be used to organize your work by separating and coloring the tabs. It’s up to you, but when we started using Containers, we found them very useful.
