Web sites can be blocked on three levels: Computer level, Network level or PSI/Government level. Some DNS services, such as Open DNS, also offer options to block certain types of websites for different users sharing the computer. Second, there are programs other than restricted Web sites embedded in Internet options that help block a Web site. We will not talk about how to block a website. Instead, we focus on how you can access a website that is restricted by network administrators and ISPs (Internet service providers) on your desktop.

This article is an extension of our other article on what to do when a website is not open. Some of the tips can be repeated in this article. So, if you find that you are unable to open or access certain sites, here are some things you might want to try.

You may not be able to access a particular website due to a failure. Check with these website monitors. Control – is a site up or down. It will tell you whether a blog or website works, online, up, down or not.

Accessing a Web site blocked on a computer

There are several ways to access a Web site and they depend on the mode in which the Web site is blocked. For example, Open DNS uses a category system, and if you want to switch to a category that your parents have blocked for you, you will receive a notification.

HTTP and HTTPS

The first thing to try is to add or remove an s to the http before the website URL. For example, by entering https://www.facebook.com, you can open it for you, because only http://www.facebook.com has been blocked. If https has been blocked, you can only try http to see if you can access the site. The term https refers to a secure connection, while http is the unencrypted version of the website URL.

Internet Options – Restricted Websites and Content Advisors

If switching between http and https does not help, check the error message you receive when you access the site. If it says’Due to restrictions on this account’, it could be family security software. In this case, not much can be done except to try portable browsers that do not need to be installed and also offer a proxy. We’ll talk about it in a moment.

If there is no account report, the site has probably been blocked via Internet options. Go to Internet Options in the Control Panel and Security tab, click Restricted Sites in the Internet Security area, and then click the Sites button (see figure below). Make sure the URL of the website you want to access is there. If so, select the URL and click Remove. You will be asked for confirmation. This should make it easier to open the website on any of your browsers.

There is another method to prevent certain types of websites from opening – with the same’Internet Options’ dialog box. Click the Content tab. Depending on your version of Windows, you may see the Content Advisor or the Home Security button. This option is used to restrict the opening of certain types of websites to different users. This means that you can take advantage of the option to block websites at the user level. If you know the password, you can click the button and change the settings. If this is not the case, you must ask your parents or network administrator for permission. Again, you can use a portable browser to bypass the restrictions.

Use a portable proxy browser to access restricted websites

You can download a portable browser that works as a proxy, for example KProxy. . This product has a portable version and an installation version. The best thing about website browsers is that they offer online navigation without entering the website address in the main URL bar. Instead, enter the URL in the text box in the center of the KProxy website.

Using another DNS

If a Web site is prohibited in a zone, the ISP blocks traffic to and from that Web site. Changing your ISP’s DNS settings to something else can make it easier for you to access the site. For example, you can change your DNS to Google Public DNS. To change the DNS, right-click the network icon in the taskbar and select Open Network and Share. In the window that appears, double-click on your network. A dialog box opens in which you can modify the DNS under IPv4.

Use a proxy to access restricted websites

Proxy websites are only accessible after entering the URL in your browser and allow you to search for other websites via the Internet connection on this website. A proxy server is like a proxy site – the difference is that you get an IP address that is configured in your browser so that you can surf the Internet.

You can use proxy sites or programs to access blocked sites in your area. One of them is UltraSurf. It has been specially developed to allow the population of a certain country to access social networks. There are websites that make it easier for you to access and open blocked websites. OpenBlockedWebsite.com and HideMyAss.com are two of those websites you may want to visit. They act as free web anonymizers that aim to share blocked websites and offer free anonymous browsing on the Internet. Also check Hola Unblocker.

These are methods of accessing websites that are prohibited on your home network, on your company’s local networks or in your country.
