Lazy loading, also known as load on demand, is a technique for optimizing online content. With this technique, not the entire web page is loaded and rendered at once, but a web page that is loaded and displayed slowly, bit by bit. It loads the object when it is needed. When you scroll the page, the content is made available to you. To be more precise, it is common to delay initializing resources until they are actually needed to improve performance and save system resources.
There are advantages to lazy loading. For example, unnecessary code execution is avoided. WordPress, one of the leading blogging platforms on the web, offers a lazy loading solution called Infinite Scroll. However, when you open a browser with multiple tabs, the content of each tab does not load until you click on it. If you think this behavior is inappropriate, try turning off lazy loading. This article guides you through the process of enabling or disabling lazy loading in the Microsoft Edge browser.
What is Image Lazy Loading?
Unlike the traditional approach, some users allow lazy loading in their browsers. This speeds up the loading of a website and saves bandwidth, so users enjoy a truly uninterrupted browsing session.
Enabling Lazy Frame Loading in Microsoft Edge
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Type the following in the address bar: edge://flags/#-enable-lazy-frame-loading.
- From the drop-down menu next to the Lazy Frame Loading line, select Enabled.
- Click the Restart button.
- From now on, Edge will attempt to load frames that have the loading=”lazy” attribute on demand.
- Instead, you can set the flag to Enabled (Automatically load lazy or safe…) to make lazy Edge loading frames that don’t have the loading=”lazy” attribute.
You’re done. The browser gives priority to user-visible content while moving the rendering process for images and frames that are not visible to the user.
