Removing an Individual App’s Cache in Galaxy S9

  • From a Home screen, drag the cursor up or down in the middle of the screen to access the applications screen.
  • Note: These instructions apply only to the default mode and layout of the Home screen.
  • Navigate: Settings icon > Apps.
  • Select the appropriate application.
  • Note If system applications are not visible, press the Menu icon (top right) > Show System Applications.
  • Tap the memory.

  • Press and hold the Volume Up and Bixby buttons, then press the Power button.
  • When the Android logo appears, release all three buttons.
  • The message “Install System Update” will display for 30-60 seconds before the Android System Restore menu options appear.
  • Press the Volume Down button repeatedly to highlight the Delete Cache partition.
  • Press the Power Button to select.
  • Press the Volume Down Button to highlight “Yes” and press the Power Button to select.
  • When the delete cache partition is finished, “Restart the system” is highlighted.
  • Press the power button to reboot the device.

Navigating in Recovery Mode

  • After the logo appears, you will see the message Install System Update on your screen for up to 60 seconds.
  • Allow your phone to process the files until Android finally starts in recovery/backup mode.
  • You can only navigate this menu using the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons.
  • Press and hold the button until the marker for the marker reaches the partition for clearing the cache.
  • Press the Power button to confirm your action.
  • Click the Volume buttons again to select Yes and press the Power button to confirm
  • Let the process finish, after which you can now reboot the system and wait for the phone to return to the home screen.

When should the cache be cleared?
