Kaspersky recently announced its Whitelist Security Approach. This is a completely new concept to make the antivirus program run much faster and better. Whitelist is basically a database that stores information about different programs and files. You can check whether a file is secure or not by simply entering its checksum or by downloading the file itself.

Once the information is stored in the global database, you do not need to search the files again and again, the antivirus program would automatically retrieve the information from the white list database. You can be sure of your files before installing them or take the risk of running them.

The white list is very useful and informative. For a particular file, it can also specify the geographical area (main areas of the world in which it is operated). In addition to the geographic extent, the number of daily, weekly and monthly users of this file is also displayed. Thanks to these excellent features, Whitelist can also be used to record program or file usage statistics.

Whitelist also informs you of the security of the file, whether it is completely secure or contains malware. User confidence is also displayed. Does that tell you if other users trust him or not? Whitelist also scans the file for authorized certificates, if the file is certified, the green’Trusted’ badge is displayed on the program page. You can even view other certificate details, such as serial number, validity, publisher and vendor. Some basic information is displayed on the same page. I mean file name, manufacturer, size and version. You can also check the MD5 and SHA1 checksums.

If you are a developer, you can submit your applications to Kaspersky Whitelist so that your users can check the security of your application and have access to its usage data.
