About Settings

Although renaming your computer from the Control Panel has always been easy, Windows 10 allows you to change the name of your PC directly in the PC settings.

Press Win+I to open your Windows 10 settings and go to System Preferences.

Click on’About’ and you will see a tab marked’About’. Rename PC

Click the tab and you are there. You can now change the name of your PC and click’Next’. You must restart your PC to save the changes.

Well, it was a quick and easy way to change the name of your PC, but if you want to follow the old method, you can also do it via the system settings in the Control Panel.

Via Control Panel

Press Win+R and enter Sysdm.cpl to open the system settings via Control Panel. This opens a dialog box that displays your system properties such as computer name, hardware devices installed on your PC, advanced settings such as PC performance and recovery, system protection, system recovery settings, and remote maintenance.

You will also see a button labeled ‘To rename this computer, click Change. Click Edit, enter the desired name and click OK. While you are changing the computer name, you can also use the popup to change your PC workgroup. Make the desired changes and click OK.

Use this method in the Control Panel to change the computer name to Windows 8/7.

Changes will only take effect when the computer restarts.
