If you do not intend to enable Windows backup and provide a third-party backup solution to end users, you can disable Windows backup notifications.

Windows backup notifications are controlled by a registry key. This registry key does not exist in standard Windows installations. To disable Windows backup notifications, you must manually add a registry key.

To do this, open regedit and navigate to the next location:

HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionWindowsBackup

Open a new MOT DWORD in the RHS window under WindowsBackup and name it DisableMonitoring and set its value to 11‘.

Exit regedit.

If this key is set to 0, or if this key does not exist, the Windows backup displays notifications to the end user regarding the Windows backup configuration.

If this key is set to 1 and an end user has not yet configured the Windows backup, no Windows backup configuration notification is displayed to the end user in the Action Center, or if a user creates an external hard disk.
