If you experience problems with the black screen in Windows 10, the following notes may help you solve the problem. There are two different scenarios we’re going to talk about. The first is when you can connect to your computer and receive no advertising. The other scenario is where you can’t even connect to your computer and see a black screen. This article shows you how to solve problems with Windows 10 Blank or Black Screen after logging in – with or without slider, at startup.

Black screen after connecting to Windows 10 PC – no display

The first scenario we will discuss is the one where you can connect and the screen is empty.

The first thing you want to try is to press Ctrl+Alt+Del and see if the Task Manager is displayed. If that’s the case, fine. Click File > Run New Task. Type explore.exe and press Enter. It worked for me once when I faced this problem.

If this does not work for you, remove all external devices and restart. If you are able to get an indication, it may mean that one of the external devices is causing the problem. If this is the case, start connecting the external devices individually until you lose the display. Remove the last connected device and check if you get the display back. If this is the case, do not use this hardware device until you have contacted the device manufacturer. Check this with other external devices.

If removing external devices does not solve the problem, go to Safe Mode. Because we assume that you will receive the ad until you log in and not after you log in, you will need to restart your computer. On the lock screen, click the power icon at the bottom left of the screen. While holding down the SHIFT key, click RESTART. This restarts your computer. After restarting, options will be offered – select safe mode with network mode. You can simply press F5 on the screen to enter safe mode.

When a screen with three options is displayed instead of a restart: Proceed with Windows 10; Troubleshooting ; and Shutdown, click Troubleshooting, then click Advanced. Then click on Startup Settings then Restart. The option to switch to safe mode is displayed when you restart your computer.

In Windows Safe Mode 10 :

1] Check that the display is set to another device. In the Control Panel, select View. In the left part of the Project window, select a second view. A sidebar appears on the right, showing you a list of screens connected to your computer (see image below). Check that the correct display is selected. If not, correct it. Otherwise, continue to troubleshoot the blank screen of Windows 10.

2] We must reinstall the display driver . Open the Device Manager and remove the display driver.

  • Click the search bar and enter the Device Manager without quotation marks
  • In the displayed list, click Update Device Driver to open the Device Manager window
  • Locate and click in the Device Manager window to expand the display adapters
  • Right-click the display adapter driver and click Uninstall
  • Restart to automatically reinstall the drivers.

This should solve the problem of a black screen for you.

3] Close RunOnce processes. Open the Task Manager. If you see a RunOnce32.exe or RunOnce.exe, stop the process or service.

Not connected and black screen

If you cannot connect due to a black screen problem in Windows 10, it may be a driver problem or the projection may be automatically set to a different value. t such as a second monitor or a television. You need Windows 10 installation support.

Download the installation media to a work computer and burn it to USB or DVD. Connect the media to the failed computer, turn it off and start it with the installation media. When prompted, select Repair this computer. You will receive one Select an option with options to continue with Windows 10, turn off your computer and fix bugs. Select Computer Troubleshooting. Select Advanced Options. Click Startup Settings then Restart. When the computer restarts, options are provided. Press F5 or scroll to Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter to enter Safe Mode.

Check the default display

Once you are in safe mode, you must check the different displays connected to your computer. Press Windows + P to display the display list (see image above). Try selecting options to move the display to other connected monitors such as a TV or a second monitor. If you select TV, make sure the TV is connected and turned on. Make sure the TV is set to receive signals from your computer. When the TV displays the display, correct the display by selecting the current computer screen as the default display in the devices listed when you press the Windows button with P.

PS : If no sidebar is displayed by pressing Windows + P, you can take it to a second screen via Control Panel -> Display -> Project.

Uninstall the display device driver and auto install

If this does not work, restart the installation media and switch to safe mode. Uninstall the device driver for display using steps 2.1 to 2.5 above

Isolate the device that causes a problem

If there is more than one display driver in Device Manager,

  1. Disable all but one.
  2. Reboot without installation support to see if the problem is solved.
  3. If this is not the case, reboot with the installation media and return to safe mode.
  4. This time, disable the driver you previously omitted and enable another driver.
  5. Reboot without installation support to see if it worked; this is called device driver isolation; you simply activate a driver immediately and check if it works until you find the driver that is causing problems.
  6. When you find it, leave it off and contact the device manufacturer for updates.
