1] Open Windows Explorer and browse to C:Windows Software Distribution. Now delete the entire contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder. The folder SoftwareDistribution folder in the Windows operating system is a folder in the Windows directory that hides files that may be needed to install Windows Update on your computer.

2] Next, run Windows Update Troubleshooter. Troubleshooting runs to see if there are any problems that prevent you from downloading and installing Windows updates on your computer.

You can also use Microsoft Online Troubleshooting to troubleshoot Windows update errors. It corrects error codes such as 0x80073712, 0x800705B4, 0x80004005, 0x8024402F, 0x80070002, 0x80070643, 0x80070003, 0x8024200B, 0x8024200B, 0x80070422, 0x80070020, etc.
