UPDATE: Microsoft has released a cumulative update for Windows 10 KB3081424 that prevents this problem.

The latest updates for Windows 10, particularly the final feature update 22H2 and subsequent security updates, have significant implications for users experiencing issues with the Settings application.

22H2 Feature Update: As the last feature update for Windows 10, the 22H2 version, released in October 2022, focused on refining existing features and improving overall system stability. For users facing issues with the Settings application, this update could potentially resolve conflicts caused by previous system inconsistencies.

Security Updates: Following the 22H2 release, Microsoft’s focus has shifted to security updates. These updates are crucial as they often contain fixes for underlying system vulnerabilities that could indirectly affect the performance and reliability of system applications, including the Settings app. By addressing these security concerns, the updates might also improve the overall stability of the Settings application.

LTSC Updates: For users on the Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC), updates such as 19044.2788 released in March 2023 primarily focus on security and critical bug fixes. Although these updates are not feature-centric, they can play a vital role in enhancing the stability and reliability of the Settings application by patching known issues and vulnerabilities that might cause the app to malfunction.
