The message you see in the Windows update settings should read something like this:
Your device is in danger because it is obsolete and lacks important safety and quality updates. We will get you back on track to make Windows more secure.
If you set Windows 10 to notify you before downloading available Windows updates, this notification appears.
In this case, clicking the Check for Updates button will download and install the Windows updates and delete the message.
If for some reason, your Windows 10 could not download the updates, you will see a Retry button to click. This will also download and install Windows updates and remove the message.
Some people have reported that setting the time zone in the Pacific area of the United States to solve the problem and make the message disappear – but this can not be a solution.
If nothing helps you or if you see this message, even if you have not changed the group policy settings, delete the Software Distribution folder and run Windows Update again. Maybe this will help.
