To run the command prompt as administrator from the Windows 7 search box, simply enter the command line in the Start menu.
Then Hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys and press Enter.
On Windows Vista and above, some applications do not work due to missing permissions. To improve its capabilities, you must run it as an administrator.
Normally, you would search for cmd, right-click it, then select’Run as administrator’ from the context menu that opens to open a command prompt as admin. Windows 8 | 7 | Vista Start Search Box serves the same function when you enter a command, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys and press Enter.
If you have enabled User Account Control (UAC), the UAC screen you need to accept opens.
This also applies to Windows 10/8.1. Try entering CMD when you are on the start screen, then hold Shift+Ctrl and press Enter. You see the UAC prompt, then a high prompt window. Of course – you can also open it from the WinX menu, but this is another option.
You can also execute commands from the Explorer address bar.
