Sometimes you can distort the touchpad settings, especially when using multiple scan gestures or 2-finger/3-finger strips on the touchpad. If you think you have accidentally altered the touchpad settings, you can reset the touchpad settings on your Windows 10 PC to the default settings.

If something does not work properly with the touchpad or the previous troubleshooting process has been interrupted, the touchpad can be reset. The procedure is as follows:
In the Quick Link or WinX menu, open Settings > Devices. Select Mouse and Touchpad
on the left side.
Scroll down and click Additional Mouse Settings.
The Mouse Properties window opens. The last tab is Device Settings, but this depends on the make of the laptop. In the case of Lenovo laptops, the last option would be the Thinkpad. On a Dell laptop it could be Dell Touchpad tab
Click Settings. On a Dell laptop, it can be Click to change the Dell touchpad settings.
Locate and click the option to change the default settings.
It is different for laptops of different makes. In a Lenovo laptop, the’Restore by default’ option. For a Sony laptop, another window should be opened by clicking on the option Default and changed accordingly. At Dell, you see a black button with the default name in the upper left corner. You see, it will be different for the different brands.
If you wish, you can also turn the touchpad off or off when you are not using it. The same settings where you reset the touchpad settings to the default settings allow you to disable or enable the touchpad. This is a screenshot of a Dell laptop.
Turn the switch to Off to turn the touchpad off. But before you disable the touchpad, make sure you have a working mouse, otherwise you may have trouble reactivating it.
