When you click a file, the file opens with your associated default operating system application. It can be a web link, a video file, etc. For example, Edge is the default browser in Windows 10, but you may have changed the file association to one of your options like Firefox or Chrome. You may have changed other file types in the same way. If you now want to reset all of them to their default values, proceed as follows.

In the WinX menu, open Settings and click Application Settings.

On the left side you see the standard applications. Click on it.

Scro; slightly down until you see an item – Reset to Microsoft recommended defaults.

Click the Reset button and all your file type assignments will be reset to their original values.

It’s as simple as that!

TIP: If you cannot open a specific file type, our File Association Fixer v2 for Windows 10/8/7 can help you repair and restore broken file associations.
