To top it all off, the Amazon FireStick comes with Alexa support. So lie back on your couch and start navigating through everything with your voice. Now you don’t even have to lift your fingers. Isn’t that super cool.

As tempting as it sounds, there is only one small problem. Although a large amount of multimedia content is available for free, premium content comes with premium price tags. This is certainly a nuisance for most users and the main reason why users install Kodi on the Fire Stick. Kodi is one of the best Amazon Fire Stick applications, opening up a new world of free multimedia content that may not be available in your area or may be exorbitantly priced.

What is Kodi?

You are probably familiar with Kodi if you are looking for advice on how to install the application on your Amazon Fire Stick. But if you are not familiar with Kodi, you should know that it is one of the most popular open source media players on the Internet. Originally launched more than fifteen years ago as XB?, Kodi works as a multimedia center and home theater PC client that allows you to stream and watch content anywhere in the world. Kodi has a fantastic user interface, an excellent theme engine with a variety of options, presets and looks, and the ability to add applications from various sources via software repositories. This makes Kodi one of the most powerful media streaming applications available online, especially in a post-Windows media center world, and if you are looking for something with a lot of power behind it, Kodi is the application for you. The application is available on dozens of different platforms, including Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android and even Raspberry Pi.

If you’re still not sure if Kodi is the right platform for you, let’s say Kodi allows you to access all your favorite content, via Apple and other means, on one device. You can access videos, music, podcasts and more, all directly from the Internet. Kodi also makes it easy to play media files from your local storage and on your network, so you can stream content wirelessly that Amazon doesn’t allow to be streamed to its boxes. With consumer plug-ins, including options for Netflix, Spotify and YouTube, Kodi allows you to easily replace the entire Fire operating system on your platform and switch to streaming content on Kodi instead. Of course, we also have to take care of the elephant in the room: Kodi allows users to stream pirated content and TV streams, and although the authors of Kodi do not support the use of a HTPC platform for illegal content, it’s a feature that millions of people around the world use Kodi for.
