BC-124 is a common error for Xbox One users and often occurs when a new update is released for Overwatch or Xbox One. If your console or game is out of date, you won’t be able to connect to the Overwatch servers live.
If you’re having this problem, you can try resetting your Xbox and manually checking your settings to update. You can also sign out of Overwatch and check the update queue to see if a new patch is being downloaded.

Enable UPnP
If you’ve already unsuccessfully reset your NIC or the above method didn’t work for your current scenario, your next troubleshooting attempt is to make sure your router can handle the ports Overwatch uses.
The vast majority of end-user routers these days do this using the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) feature. If this scenario is applicable, you should be able to resolve error BC-124 by enabling UPnP. This potential update has been confirmed to work for users experiencing this issue on Xbox One, Ps4, and PC.
- Open your default browser, enter one of the following addresses in the address bar and press Enter: 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.
- Then enter your credentials to enter the router settings. If you haven’t changed the default credentials, you will be able to access these settings using admin for the username and password.
- Once you get to the router settings screen, review the tab settings for UPnP or forwarding.
- The exact steps for configuring UPnP depend on the manufacturer of your router.
- Save your changes and restart the device you are playing Overwatch on and see if the issue is resolved.
If that doesn’t work, all you can do is wait and see. This error occurs when Overwatch servers refuse to authenticate, and may even appear when a general server crash occurs. If you are unable to log in and play after a few hours, please contact Blizzard Customer Support on Twitter to see if there is any information about the crash. If no one is interested, please contact Blizzard Support directly.
