Surface Book 2 is a powerful tool for a device designed to demonstrate the versatility of the Windows 10 platform and its ability in a PC and tablet environment. It also makes the removable keyboard a central element of the device, which is designed to maintain its productive character.
The last thing you may have to do with Surface Book 2 is perhaps the device that does not recognize the keyboard. It is frustrating to say the least.
Fortunately, as with most other problems, there are ways to reverse things and regain control of the keyboard.
Force Shutdown Surface Book
This problem can be software or hardware. If you have already tried to restart the device, reconnect the keyboard and update the drivers, we recommend that you force the Surface device to stop. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Press and hold the power switch on your surface for 30 seconds, then release it.
- Press and hold the Volume and Power buttons simultaneously for at least 15 seconds, then release them both.
- The display may flash the surface logo, but press and hold the buttons for at least 15 seconds.
- After releasing the buttons, wait 10 seconds.
- Press and release the power switch to turn your surface back on. You should see the Surface logo.
December 2024 Update:
You can now prevent PC problems by using this tool, such as protecting you against file loss and malware. Additionally, it is a great way to optimize your computer for maximum performance. The program fixes common errors that might occur on Windows systems with ease - no need for hours of troubleshooting when you have the perfect solution at your fingertips:
- Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (Windows 10, 8, 7, XP, Vista – Microsoft Gold Certified).
- Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
- Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.
Restarting the surface
If your Surface keyboard does not work, try restarting your Surface first:
1) Unplug your keyboard.
2) Restart your interface.
3) Reconnect your keyboard.
If this method is convenient for you, you can now use your keyboard.
Loosen and reattach your keyboard.
Simple and surprisingly effective. Sometimes all you have to do is remove and replace the keyboard cover. Make sure you leave it offline for at least 10 seconds and I always do something to make the keyboard appear on the screen (like calling IE and doing a Google search) just to make sure the interface recognizes that the keyboard is not connected.
Check for updates
This may sound ironic when considering the tips in the first section, but assuming that the problems haven’t started because of an update, one of the first things you should do is check for Microsoft updates. It is possible that there is a known problem and they have found a solution.
CONCLUSION
Okay, what if the above didn’t help you solve the problem? We have one last extreme but effective solution, which is to reset the Windows device. We would like to warn you to be careful as this will delete all your data. Microsoft will most likely fix it in the next update, as it looks more like a software problem. So update your Surface Book regularly so that you don’t miss the mark.
