When you browse the web on computers or Android devices, you can send a request to websites not to collect or track your browsing information. This feature is turned off by default.

However, what happens to your information depends on how a web site responds to the request. Many websites will continue to collect and use your navigational information to improve security, provide content, services, advertising, and recommendations on their websites, and to compile statistics.

Most web sites and services, including Google, do not change their behavior when they receive a “Do Not Track” request. Chrome does not provide details about which sites and web services comply with “Do Not Track” requests and how the sites interpret them.

Most browsers have a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting that “sends a special signal to websites, analytics companies, ad networks, plug-in providers, and other web services you encounter while browsing to stop tracking your activity. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, it doesn’t. That’s because the “Do Not Track” setting is just a voluntary signal sent to sites that don’t need to be followed by them.

  • Scroll down and touch Settings
  • Scroll down and touch Privacy (under Advanced)
  • Type “Do Not Track”
  • Press the slide switch to the ON position.
