If Windows 10 has serious problems, it can sometimes lead to the orange screen of death. When you encounter this problem, an orange screen suddenly appears with an error message: “Your PC is experiencing a problem and needs to be restarted, we are only collecting some information. And then we will do it again for you. This Windows bug is not as popular as the blue screen of death, the black screen of death and the new green screen of death, but it happens from time to time, especially if your computer has problems. Often this error is caused by a major hardware error with the display or GPU.
How to fix the orange death screen on your PC
Update your graphics driver
The main reason your PC crashes with an orange screen is the corruption or obsolescence of drivers on your system, the most common culprit being the graphics driver. Therefore, we may need to update the graphics driver in order to repair it.
To solve the problem, you can manually update all available drivers for your USB devices ONE to ONE until you have determined the exact wrong driver. First, go to the manufacturer’s website and search for the latest correct driver for the devices. Be sure to select only drivers that are compatible with your version of Windows system versions. Then download them all yourself and update them.
Remove the SoftOSD software
Some users have reported that softOSD.exe under Windows 10 can cause problems with the orange screen. Try to remove the SoftOSD software from your computer:
- Go to Start > Settings > Applications and Features.
- Locate SoftOSD in the list, select it, then click on the Uninstall button.
- If you are prompted to delete sds64a.sys, skip this step.

Run SFC Scanner
SFC Scanner is a Microsoft tool to detect various problems with your system, and when you run it, it seems to have solved some people’s memory management problems.
Right-click the Start button and launch Command Prompt in Admin mode. A slightly intimidating black text area appears. Type’sfc/scannow’ and press’Enter’.
The SFC scanner will now scan your system and check if it finds any errors that need to be corrected. Let him try it – it may take some time. Although it seems to find nothing, some users have noticed that their computers play better once they are fully executed.
Uninstall the most recently installed software.
Have you installed any software and ten of them had this problem? I have heard of many software programs that have caused this problem. I suggest you check the list of recently introduced software and check if you have something installed. If so, uninstall and check to see if the problem persists.
If nothing works for you, it is best to check the system log in the Event Viewer for additional error messages. If it is not the GPU, but another device or driver that causes the problem, it can be identified. Try to disable the driver and see if the problem persists.
