League of Legends is one of the most popular games created by Riot Games before Valorant stole the show. The game was released in 2009 only for Apple iMac and Microsoft Windows. However, because of the freemium project license, the game became the most popular game with a large and extensive fan base. Recently, however, we received a message that there was an error stating that it would not be updated. Since the game is extremely popular among millions of players around the world, we had to come up with an update, and it is.
The main reason for this error is an update failure, which led to this error. In addition, there are some patch updates that are causing this bug. So, if you’re one of those who encountered this problem, look no further, because you’ve come to the right page. So, let’s start with our troubleshooting guide.
Reinstall League of Legends.
This is a good solution for most games if they’re having trouble updating to the latest version. To reinstall League of Legends, first uninstall the current version from your computer. Then visit the League of Legends website to re-download and install the client, as described in this video from Riot Support.
Open the client to see if the solution worked. If the client works correctly, it should be updated so you can play the games normally. If not, you may need to check and restore the client’s health.
Delete the “lol_air_client” and “lol_launcher” folders
It turns out that the lol_air_client and lol_launcher libraries can also be corrupted. This is one of the reasons why the game can’t load updates. In this method, we delete these files and run the game. If the problem persists, we will use the application lol.launcher.admin.exe to restore the League of Legends client. Please perform the following steps:
- Go to Riot Games> League of Legends> RADS> Projects and delete the folders “lol_air_client” and “lol_launcher”.
- Now run the game.If it still doesn’t work, go to Riot Games> League of Legends, find the file lol.launcher.admin.exe and run it.
- Click Yes to allow the application to make changes.
- When the client update begins, click the “?” icon in the upper right corner
- Click “Restore” and click “Yes” again to confirm and wait for the launcher to complete the repair.
- Then let the game run.

Use an executable patch to run League of Legends
Often using an executable patch is actually more efficient than running automatic updates from a failed client. To access the League of Legends patcher, open the League of Legends folder, then click the Wheel subfolder. This brings up a drop-down list of projects as an option. Click here.
Then select lolpatcher, click the item labeled Releases and select Deploy. You will be taken to an intermediate folder, which will display the executable LoLPatcher.exe, which you can run to update the client. When you run this patcher, the game must be updated to the latest version of League of Legends.
Temporarily disable antivirus program
It is well known that some antivirus tools can interfere with online gambling. As a result, antivirus can block the connection to the game servers and interfere with the update process.
If the previous solutions didn’t work, disable your antivirus before running League of Legends and then run updates.
In some situations, you may need to uninstall antivirus before updating.
Note. Antivirus is an important program for your system. Rather than disabling it completely, we recommend using one that does not interfere with LoL, such as B. Bitdefender.
