Windows introduces a new feature called Reveal Password. On Windows 10/8.1/8, when you enter your password in the password field of a Windows website or application, or in the login screen, a button Password display or icon appears at the end of the password field.

When you click this button, your password is briefly displayed in the stars. Although this is a very useful feature, especially if you are not sure what you entered in the password field and need to confirm before clicking the Login or Login button, security-conscious users can disable this feature.

  • If you disable or do not configure this policy setting , the Reveal Password button appears after a user enters a password in the password entry text box. By default, the button to reveal the password is displayed.

If your version does not have a group policy editor, you may need to modify your registry

Create a new key and name it CredUI.

Right-click and create a new password and name it DisablePasswordReveal.

  • If you give DisablePasswordReveal a value 1, the Reveal Password button is hidden.
