How to edit the text of the elements in the Windows 8 charm bar

It’s always fun to optimize our system by changing the editing texts for Windows DLLs, etc. People even took editing the start button text in Windows 7 as a challenge – until we launched the ToolTip Text Changer start button. In this article, I will show you how to edit text in the charm bar under Windows 8.

Step 1:

Quickly create a system restore point first. Next, go to C:WindowsSystem 32de-US

Step 2 :

Locate the file twinui.dll.mui and copy it to your desktop.

Step 3 :

Right click twinui.dll.mui and click Open with and scroll down and select Find an application on this PC.

Step 4 :

Go to the Resource Hacker installation directory and select ResHacker.exe

Step 5 :

You will now see a screen similar to the screenshot below.

Step 6 :

Expand String String Table and scroll down to 444 or 445 and select 1033.

Step 7 :

Now you can change the desired text and click on Compile Script Script and go to File and click on Save.

Step 8:

You will now see two different files twinui.dll.mui and twinui.dll_original.mui on your desktop. Now you must copy twinui.dll.mui to C:WindowsSystem 32de-US. Before you insert the file, you must take possession of the file.

  • Right-click twinui.dll. mui under C:WindowsSystem 32de-US and go to Properties
  • Go to the Security tab and click Advanced
  • Now click Change under Owner
  • Enter your user name and click’Ok’.
  • Now select your user name from the list Permission Entries and click Add.
  • Now select Select a a aMain and enter your username.
  • Now click Full Control Control and click Ok
  • Click OK again and click Properties.

You can now rename the file to twinui.dll.dll.mui.old and copy the modified twinui.dll.dll.mui.

Step 9:

The last step is to restart the Windows Explorer from the Task Manager.

and you have your charm bar modified.

If you want to return, delete the modified twinui.dll.dll.mui and rename twinui.dll.mui.mui.old to twinui.dll.mui.mui and restart Windows Explorer.
