- Download and install the repair tool here.
- Let it scan your computer.
- The tool will then repair your computer.
In this tutorial, we will see how to change the priority of network connections in Windows 8 or Windows 7 and let them follow a desired connection order. You can use a wired connection for Windows 8 instead of a wireless connection.
When you start your laptop and a wireless connection is available, your Windows laptop connects to the Wi-Fi connection. Even if you connect to a wired connection, it will still be used on the Wi-Fi connection. Because if more than one network connection is available, Windows uses the one with the lowest metric value.
To change the priority of the network connection, open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections.
If you cannot find it, simply open the Control Panel and enter Network Connections in the search field and press Enter. Under Network and Sharing Center, see View network connections. Click on it to open the next window.
Now click the Alt key to display the menu bar.
December 2024 Update:
You can now prevent PC problems by using this tool, such as protecting you against file loss and malware. Additionally, it is a great way to optimize your computer for maximum performance. The program fixes common errors that might occur on Windows systems with ease - no need for hours of troubleshooting when you have the perfect solution at your fingertips:
- Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (Windows 10, 8, 7, XP, Vista – Microsoft Gold Certified).
- Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
- Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.
Click Advanced. The Properties field opens.
The Adapters and Binders tab displays the list of connections and the order in which they are called by the associated network connections and other Windows services. The default is Wi-Fi, Ethernet, then Remote Access. The Network Connections service manages objects in the Network Connections and Dial-up Connections folder, where you can view local network connections and remote connections.
Use the up and down arrow keys to change their order and adjust them according to their priority. If you change the setting as above and select Ethernet as your first choice, your laptop will first use the wired connection.
Click OK and exit.
Your Windows PC will now follow this order when it detects available network connections.
Tomorrow, we will see how the priority of wireless networks in Windows 8 can be displayed and modified with CMD.
