Download Now

The error code that afflicts many Windows 8 users (as shown by the number of those seeking help through the Microsoft Support Forum) is annoying at best, as the error occurs when downloading the Windows 8.1 update reaches up to 50%.

The two proposed buttons -‘Try again’ and’Cancel’ – seem little or not useful.

Why is the error code displayed?

Although it is difficult to determine the exact cause of the problem, experts suggest that code often results from damaged or damaged registry files, malware infections or spyware, old or obsolete Windows drivers, corrupted file systems and, most importantly, incomplete Windows installation or improper maintenance.

This may result in events such as program failure, system freeze, system boot problem and system shutdown problems. Follow these steps and see if it works.

Install the latest updates and drivers

Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your Windows computer. I also recommend that you install all available Windows updates, including optional driver updates.

If the above solution fails, uninstall the antivirus software and then try upgrading to Windows 8.1. Let’s see if it helps.

  • At the same type of prompt window Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth.More details here.
  • After the repair is complete, restart your computer and try updating now.

Try automatic repair

  • The action opens the PC parameters in the General category. Scroll down, search Advanced Start and click Restart Now.
  • Then select’Troubleshooting’ > Advanced Options, and click Auto Repair.

Update your PC

Follow the steps above until you reach the General category in the PC Settings category. Scroll down and search for Refresh your PC without affecting your files and click Start when you are ready. Follow the instructions!
