Most developers prefer the Windows installer to install their software – and therefore you will see this message as the process is already in use.
When you install or uninstall a program on your Windows PC, the Windows operating system installs or uninstalls only one program at a time, using the Windows Install process. Windows Installer is a system process used to install, repair, maintain and uninstall software. It adds, modifies and deletes applications that are provided as a Windows Installer package (*.msi, *.msp).
So if you get such an error message, here’s what you can do.
1] If you are already installing, modifying or repairing a program, wait until the current program is uninstalled or modified. Once this process is complete, you can try again.
2] When you open the Task Manager under the Services tab and see the Windows Install process, you can right-click and end the process. But only if you are sure that the other installation or uninstallation is complete but that the Windows installation program is not finished.
3] Restart your computer and check. Can you install or uninstall a program now?
4] Try using a third-party uninstaller and see if you can uninstall the programs.
5] Read this article if you cannot install or uninstall programs on Windows. It offers some additional suggestions.
