When using the integrated Vudu playback application on the TV, the player crashes after a few minutes with the error message “Sorry, the video player no longer works. Please, try again.”

The Vudu application seems to work correctly, but does not play videos (streaming or downloading). It only hangs down during loading and then returns to the video information screen. The only Vudu content that plays is your advertising (if you are watching a free movie).

Clear the browser cache

First check your connection and make sure you are using a wired connection. An Ethernet connection is always preferable to a Wi-Fi connection, especially in streaming.

Also disable all VPN/proxy solutions as they do not seem to work with the VUDU. If you come from an unsupported area, you will hardly be able to use it.

Since there are two ways to access the VUDU drive under Windows 10 today, we decided to use both. Of course, this solution is valid for a browser-based reader. If you have problems with streaming, you should first try it.

Like any browser, it tends to stack most of the cache and store it locally. This will eventually lead to a deterioration in performance. And this is especially bad when it comes to online streaming.

Resetting the application to factory default values

However, if you use the application, the analog action is to reset it to factory settings. This can be useful for several reasons, the main one being the corruption of locally cached files. So before reinstalling the VUDU application, try to reset it.

We are aware of a number of problems that this application brings to the table, but if it is already your first choice, you may as well try to do everything in your power.

Use an optical audio cable.

Connect an optical audio cable if you have not yet switched from the TV to the receiver. Go to System Options in the TV menu. Go to the terminal setting. Select Audio Setup – if you are using the Wi-Fi set to Bitstream. Go to Output selection and switch to Variable. Set your receiver to “TV”. From there, it should work.

Select SD quality

If you can’t load a track in high resolution (HDX), try a downgrade and it should work. We are aware that this is not a solution in itself, but some language users have experienced failures only with these settings. And that’s what VUDU’s support is. In the meantime, try a lower quality and it might work.
