I bet some of you haven’t heard of WordPad yet. Or even if you have heard about it, if you have not used it or if you have simply forgotten its existence. Why? Why? WordPad on Windows 10

To use Wordpad on Windows 10, type ‘wordpad‘ in the taskbar and click the result. This opens WordPad.

To open Wordpad, you can also use the Run write.exe command. Press WinKey+R, type write.exe or wordpad.exe and press Enter.

Use Wordpad to create, edit, save, open, view, and print text documents. You can format bold, underline and italics, change font color and size, create bulleted lists, center paragraphs or left/right align, insert images and much more. Just play with the easy-to-use ribbon menu until you have an idea of what it has to offer.

WordPad, as well as other integrated tools such as Character Map, Windows Fax and Scan are now ported to the Windows Store as universal applications. You can now download the Wordpad application from the Windows store.

Wordpad uses the file extension .rtf or Rich Text Format to save the default files. But it can also save documents in.docx (Office Open XML), ODT (Open Document),.txt (Text) format.

Reset WordPad settings to default

We have seen how to reset Notepad settings – now we see how to reset WordPad settings to default settings in Windows 10. But before you start, you can create a system restore point or back up your registry.

To reset Wordpad settings to default settings, close Wordpad and run regeditit to open the Registry Editor and navigate to the next key :


In the left part, you see Options. Delete this softkey.

If you open Wordpad now, you will see it with its default settings.
