Then type and press Enter:

3856ad36DISM /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup0x80071a91

You can learn more about what StartComponentCleanup does in this post titled Cleaning the WinSxSxS folder.

You can also do the following:

3856ad36DISM /online /cleanup image /restore health0x80071a91

/RestoreHealth checks damage to component memory, records damage in C:WindowsLogsCBSCSCBS.log and fixes damage with Windows Update. This process takes 15 minutes or more, depending on the level of corruption. Read more under Windows Component Store Corrupt.

Restart the computer and try again.

However, if you think your Windows Update client is already corrupted, use a running Windows installation as the repair source or a Windows folder side by side from a network share or the Windows DVD as the file source. To do so, execute the following command instead:

3856ad36 DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /Source:C:RepairSourceWindows /LimitAccess0x80071a91

Here Replace C:RepairSourceWindows with the location of your repair source.
