Windows 10 operating system platform users may encounter this strange problem when they can see this random device called Austin-Amazon KAUFWI on the network. For example, if you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, it may appear in the same list of networks. If you right-click on it and open the properties window, it will appear as Austin Properties. Beneath the network device you’re unlikely to see any details except for the Amazon manufacturer name and model / model numbers, such as KAUFWI.
Although many people think that their system has been hacked, it seems that Austin is the name of the motherboard for Amazon devices such as Kindle, Fire, and so on. D. Also, KAUFWI is a system (based on Linux) that developers use to perform functions such as device recognition. Even so, finding a random device on the network and reading the security of your system can be boring and a bit scary.
Some users find that they saw the KFDOWI network on their computer after upgrading Windows 10. When the properties of this network are checked, the IP address is missing. You will just see some details related to the MAC address. As with the unavailable IP address, there is no unique identifier or website template.
Disable the Windows Connect Now service
This is the easiest way to effectively remove KFDOWI from your computer. You must deactivate the connection service on your system. The purpose of the connection service is to connect your computer to other devices on your existing network. If you have an Amazon device, your computer will try to contact it. You will not be able to connect properly due to a compatibility problem. Here we go to Windows services and disconnect the service.
- Enter “services.msc” in the command field to open the service manager.
- Then find Windows Connect Now on the right side of the window.
- Right-click on this option and select “Properties”.
- Open a general hint and change the startup type to Manual.
- Then click “Stop” and apply the settings.
This should remove the network from your settings. With this method you disable automatic network connection so that KFDOWI disappears. If this does not work, try rebooting the router.

Change the Wi-Fi information
Devices with information about your home Wi-Fi network often automatically connect to your Wi-Fi network if they are within range, unless prohibited by the device settings. To remove these devices from your network:
This is the most dramatic step you can take. If devices are still added to your network without your permission and continue to connect after removal, you may need to change your WiFi information. Use the documentation for your router to complete the steps. After changing the security settings, you can decide who can join the network and better find out who uses your Internet access.
Remove the Austin Amazon KFAUWI device, which is displayed in the “Network device” section.
Why does Amazon KFAUWI appear next to the router driver and in the “Network Device” section even if no Amazon product is assigned to the router?
Here you can try to remove it by disabling Windows Connect Now service and resetting the router Wi-Fi settings.
- Enter “Services.msc” in the Kortana search box to launch Service Manager. Go to the right pane of the Services window and find Windows Connect Now to configure wireless network settings for your access point (AP) or wireless device. Right-click it and select the Properties option.
- Click the “General” tab. Change the Launch Type to Disabled below.
- Then click “Stop” and click “Apply”>”OK” to save your changes.
- After that, the Amazon KFAUWI device should no longer be displayed.
