Many websites use certificates to be secure and to show that they are secure. These are those whose URL begins with HTTPS. If the time on your system clock is outside the certificate validity period of a particular site, the site will not open. This would cause the error i>Your connection is not secure. If a website certificate is valid from April 2007 to April 2019 and your system clock time was set somewhere in 2005, the website displays the error.

Check system time

Since the error is now time-related, our first approach should be to review time. If it is incorrect, correct it by following the steps below:

  1. Click the Start button and then click the transmission as an icon to open the Settings page 12.
  2. In the list, select the time and language from the available options.
  3. Set option Automatically set time to On.
  4. Restart the system.

If the time and date are not changed, please do so manually on the same settings page. You can also check the time zone and location.

  1. Click Additional Date, Time and Region Settings on the Date and Time Settings page.
  2. Select option Select time and date or Change time zone to change settings manually.

Contact Site Owner

If a change in date and time does not help, the Site Owner can be notified to verify that the certificates have expired.

Avoid warning

This is not recommended for security reasons – but there is a way to do it if you trust the site.

  1. Click Advanced on the warning page and then click Add exception.
  2. Click View then Confirm Security Exception.
