When you try to reset your PC, the following message appears:

The cause of this error is usually a corrupted MBR or BCD file. To solve this problem, there are a few things you should try.

1] Start the advanced boot options. From the WinRE screen, select Troubleshooting > Advanced Options > Advanced Options > Command Prompt. Start Check Disk with CMD. You can use the command chkdsk /r.

2] If a system file needed for booting is corrupted, running System File Checker may help.

3] You may need to change the active partition with . An active partition is one that detects your BIOS and starts your computer.

It is important to note that an incorrect modification of the active partition can make your computer unbootable. Therefore, do not accidentally mark a partition as active if it does not contain the NTDLR loader for your operating system.

Enter the following commands :


List Disk

Now select the drive – it is typically drive 0 – and define it as active drive. Assuming it is disk 0, the :

 Select hard disk 0

Now list partitions :

List of partitions

Assuming your partition number is 0, the command

 will select partition 0

To make it the active partition, type and press Enter :

Active.
