Download Now

A problem with Windows 10 compatible hardware is often due to the driver. A simple update and the problem is solved. You must download the latest driver from the manufacturer’s website.

If you are using a controller that supports Windows 10, update the driver to the latest version.

If you are using an older controller that does not fully support Windows 10, you may need to run the driver in Windows 7 or Windows 8 compatibility mode. To do this, download the controller driver, preferably the most recent, right-click on the installation file and select Properties from the menu.

In the new window that opens, locate the Compatibility tab, then click Run this program in compatibility mode. From the drop-down menu, select Windows 7 or Windows 8, then complete the installation and restart your computer.

Adjust power management settings

The undetected joystick can be repaired by simply adjusting the power management settings in Windows 10.

Press Windows + X to open the WinX menu, then select Device Manager from the list. From there, expand the Universal Serial Bus Controller option, then right-click the USB root hub and select Properties.

The next step is to select the Power Management option and then disable all the check boxes under Computers to save power.

Restart the Windows 10 computer and try again with your controller.

There is a chance that the number of devices connected to your computer will cause the problem, so you may need to delete them or only those you do not use.

Let’s be honest, if a computer has enough ports, we will connect a lot of things to the computer and never delete them, even when they are not being used.

Most of this advice should suffice. However, if they don’t work, the best way to move forward is to get a new gamepad.
