Microsoft has integrated many new features into Windows 10. Of all the new inclusions, the Action Center is one of the best things Windows 10 users can use to become more productive. The action center consists mainly of two parts, the quick action icons, which allow you to perform quick actions, and the notifications that are displayed. If you receive several notifications daily, it may be useful to set a priority for the different types of notifications you receive.

If you receive only two or three notifications per day, it is not necessary to prioritize application notifications. However, if you receive more than 10 notifications per day, you can prioritize them.

To prioritize notifications, open the Settings window on your Windows 10 computer. To do this, you can press Win+I simultaneously. Then click on System. Here you see Notifications & Actions on the left side. Select it, then scroll down a bit to see all applications that currently display notifications in the action center.

Select an application whose priority you want to change. There are three possibilities:

  1. High
  2. Very High
  3. Normal

Normal is the general priority and if all applications are set to Normal, the action center displays notifications based on the time of reception. Preferred applications display notifications about the Normal. This means that if your email application is set to High and the others to Normal, you will mainly receive email notifications – regardless of when you received the new email. The applications labeled at the top show the notifications before all the other two labels. However, if you have set a high priority for about two applications, you will receive notifications based on the time of receipt.

Select the desired priority and confirm the action when prompted.

That’s all you have to do.

If you do not wish to receive notification, you can disable the Action Center.
