How to select and display the selected folders from the Windows 10 Start menu

First open Windows Settings > Customization > Start in the WinX menu.

Here you can switch the cursor to On to display the following items in the Start menu :

  • Music
  • Images
  • Images
  • Videos
  • Homegroup
  • Network
  • Personal folder.

First create a system restore point, then open a raised PDC and execute the following commands :

cd C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindows
ren 'Start Menu Places Originals'

Now open C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindows and create a new folder named Start Menu Places. You may need to display hidden files, folders and drives first.

Restart your PC and connect with another local account. If you don’t have any other local accounts, create one first.

With this other local account, copy all shortcut files from C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart Original Places Menu to C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart Places Menu.

Restart and log in with your original account to see if it has helped you.
