Windows 10 has some new features like Edge Browser, Windows Hello, Virtual Desktop, Device Guard, Antimalware Scan Interface, etc. but some people simply can’t get into the habit and convenience of using their previous versions of Windows. And then again, some may have screwed up their upgrade and want to return to the stability of their previous version of Windows after using Windows 10 for a few days.

Fortunately, Microsoft has retained a rollback option that allows dissatisfied users to uninstall the upgrade and return to the previous version of Windows – Windows 8.1 or Windows 7.

To reset Windows 10, access your PC settings by typing Settings in the taskbar next to the Windows icon and clicking Settings. The PC settings are open. Select’Update and Security’.

The Update and Security option opens. Here you can see options such as Windows Update, Activation, Backup, Recovery and Windows Defender. Click Recovery‘.

This opens the Recovery Settings window for your PC. You will see 3 options:

  1. Reset this PC: Remove and reinstall Windows. This will reset your PC to its original factory settings.
  2. Return to your previous version of Windows: This will bring your current Windows back to your PC without affecting your documents and files. Note that you can use
  3. Advanced Startup: Here you can change your PC settings via a Windows image or USB/DVD.

Click ‘Back to previous version of Windows‘. In this case, you will see Back to Windows 8.1

Microsoft will ask you your opinion and the reason for uninstalling Windows 10

Give your opinion and continue. Click Next. You will see the following screen.

Make sure your PC is connected, as reversing may be interrupted by turning the power off. Click the button to return to Windows 8.1.

It may take some time for your system to process rollback and read the settings from your previous version of Windows. Sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee. Note the important warning – You must know or remember the password you used to log in to your previous version of Windows.

Once the cancellation process is complete, your PC will automatically start in your previous version of Windows.

You can also use this method to return to an earlier version of Windows 10.

Going back depends on the availability of the Windows.old & other folder, if you delete it, you may not be offered the option to go back.

See this when you get We regret but you cannot go back. The files we need to recover you have been deleted. But if you follow this trick, you can reset Windows 10 after 30 days.

On one of my other laptops, I updated my existing version of Windows 8.1 and got a little confused at the end. So I decided to install Windows 10 cleanly on a separate partition with a bootable USB key.

You can also downgrade Windows 10 with the EaseUS GoBack system or the Windows 10 downgrading utility.
