The Windows 0x8009310B error is caused by an unsuitable private key. If the private key is still on the server, it is possible to install the certificate and restore the private key. The following solution can correct the error; if it does not work, the certificate must be replaced.

Repairing a corrupted certificate

Open the DOS command prompt (cmd.exe).

Type : certutil -repairstore my “VALUE OF THE PRINTING OR SERIALNUMBER”.

Note: If you are not sure if you can find the THUMBPRINT or the SERIES, please follow these instructions. In addition, the certificate is sometimes unavailable and must be imported for this command to work. If you receive an error, make sure that the SERIES and/or THEMATIC PRINTING you are using are the EXACTS indicated in your certificate, as Windows sometimes inserts one or more question marks, resulting in failure.

Return to the IIS Manager and modify the shortcuts for this website again. (Where you can select the certificate)

Note: Sometimes you get an error, so just ignore the error and try again. When you try again, it may be that the certificate has already been selected and there is nothing else to do. If you do not see the certificate in the list, you may need to give it a friendly name in the MMC by changing its properties.
