This is very important as a damaged file can cause a big problem. To remove a corrupted task or other task from the task scheduler, you must use the registry editor help if you cannot use the task scheduler interface. Press Win + R, type regedit and press Enter. Then navigate to the next path

ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCacheTree

Here you will find all tasks currently defined in the task scheduler. Since you don’t know which one is damaged, you should try deleting the last one in the task scheduler. You must write down the ID before you delete it. To get the ID, select the task you want to delete, double-click the string Id String on the right and copy it to Notepad.

Right-click the task name and delete it.

Then delete the same GUID (Id, which you have already copied) from the following folders : – – the following folders

 ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCacheBoot
ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCacheLogon
ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMsoftWAREMicroWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCacheMaintenance
ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCachePlain
ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCacheTasks

You cannot find the same in all folders, but if you see it, erase it.

Navigate to this location:

C:WindowsSystem32Tasks

Delete the same task you deleted from the Registry Editor.

Restart your computer and check whether you can use the task scheduler correctly or not.

If there are synchronization problems between Explorer and Registry Editor, you may receive this error message when you open Task Scheduler on Windows 10/8/7, in other words, you should check if all created tasks have created a registry key. To do this, navigate to this folder in the File Explorer:

C:WindowsSystem32Tasks

And open this path in Registry Editor:

ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCache

Check if all tasks in Windows Explorer are included in the registry editor. You should check two locations in the registry editor as follows

ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCacheTasks
ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCacheTree

If you find an additional task at one of the two locations, you can delete this task and then check whether the task scheduler is open correctly or not.

These are two primary solutions to this problem and we hope one of them will help you.
