The 0x800ccc0d error appears when you try and send / receive email messages in Microsoft Outlook. This error usually arises when Outlook cannot determine whether your PC is connected to the Internet or there is a program blocking Outlook’s access to the internet. When you attempt to send or receive email in Outlook or Outlook Express, you see one of the following error messages.
The server could not be found. (Account: account name, POP server:’mail’, Error Number: 0x800ccc0d).
As the message of this sending error 0x800ccc0d defines that email client (Microsoft Outlook) is somehow not able to find the server, so it can not establish a connection and execute proper sending or receiving of emails/messages.
This issue may occur if one of the following scenarios is true:
- Your Outlook might be disconnected or not connected to Internet.
- Incorrect settings of Outlook mail account.
- Incomplete installation of Outlook
- Incorrect configuration of Antivirus software
- When your Outlook user profile is damaged.
- Corrupt or damaged PST files
- If Outlook email item on your POP3 server is damaged.
- When Outlook is removed or installation of Outlook is damaged.

Confirm That Your Email Server Settings Are Correct

Make sure the domain name has fully propagated. If it has not you may either connect via IP or wait for propagation to take place.
Configure Firewall Settings
You have a firewall. The firewall may be causing this error. Configure your firewall software to grant access to the Internet for the following files.
- For Outlook Express: Msimn.exe
- For Outlook: Outlook.exe
- By default, most e-mail clients have to have outbound access on port 110 and inbound access on port 25.
Check Your Account Login Details
It can be that this error arises when you have incorrectly entered your account details. To resolve this:
- Click Start > Run
- In the “open” box, type “Control Panel“
- If you are in Classic view, double click Mail.
- If you are in Category view, click “switch to classic view” and then double click mail
- In the Mail setup dialog box that opens, click “Show profiles“
- On the general tab, under “When starting Microsoft Office Outlook“, use this profile, click Prompt for a profile to be used, and then click Add.
- In the “Profile Name“, type the name you want to have for this particular account and click OK
- In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
- Click the appropriate server type for your new e-mail account, and then click Next.
- Type your account information in the required boxes, and then click Next.
- Click Finish, and then click OK.
Creating a fresh, new account will ensure that you have correctly entered the account details. You can now send yourself a test message to see if the error returns. If the error has returned it generally means that you have something blocking the applications access to the Internet.
