Mozilla Firefox is a popular and reliable browser when it comes to surfing, but bad for managing shortcuts. Although there is no shortage of keyboard shortcuts for common commands, your browser’s control capabilities are extremely limited.

Previously,’Customizable shortcuts’, a Firefox add-on allowed users to change commands for almost all functions. But the extension was interrupted shortly afterwards. Fortunately, there is another add-on called Keybinder to work around this problem in Firefox.

Firefox Add-on Keybinder is a simple solution that allows users to customize or disable various shortcuts they do not like.

To use the add-on, just add it to Firefox. When you are finished, simply use the Alt key to access the main configuration menu, navigate to’Tools’ and select’Keybinder’.

Under the main windows you will find a list of all affected key combinations. Here you can select the integrated search to quickly find a shortcut. Please note that if you want to use a shortcut, you must use the Ctrl key instead of the short form Ctrl’.

Options to edit, modify, disable, delete or reset the selected shortcut can be found. All buttons are enabled by default. Change the status to simply deactivate or activate a key. If you disable a shortcut, it is displayed in red with a strikethrough line for easy identification.

In addition, Keybinder comes with a number of additional features that may be useful to you.

The add-on has options for :

  1. A) Focus flight deactivation.
  2. B) Definition of a particular set of areas to which it applies.
  3. C) Set how much time elapses between click and focus (in milliseconds)
  4. D) Temporarily focus a plug-in by pressing it (Ctrl on Windows/Linux, Cmd on Mac).

If Firefox crashes at any time, all key assignments are automatically reset to the default setting. Occasionally, the Firefox update may also disable the add-on. In such a situation, you must activate or deactivate the add-on again. Keybinder can also refuse to work in private windows.

There was no toolbar for the add-on. The keyboard dialog was not immediately available. You had to press the Alt key to display the menu bar. This problem has been fixed in the current version of Keybinder.
