In our Chrome Flags tutorial, we talked about the 10 most useful flag settings that can improve your browser experience. Today, we will gather our heads in this article on another useful flag that can be used for exporting and importing passwords in the Chrome browser.
Passwords are of course a very important asset. Registering in a browser makes it easy. You don’t have to go back in your head every time and try to remember it. What if you want to save your passwords? You have no option to export and import your default saved passwords into Chrome – but you can enable the same with Chrome flags. To import or export passwords from the Manage Passwords section in the settings by activating a Chrome flag.

Export and import chrome passwords
UPDATE: Things have changed in the latest versions of the Chrome browser. Please read the full article and comments. You can now use ChromePass to manage your passwords.
In current versions of Chrome, you can copy the following items directly into the Chrome address bar and open the import/export with Enter :
- chrom://flags/#passwort-import-export
- chrom://Settings/Passwords
The following method applies only to previous versions of Chrome. We now recommend that you use a third-party tool to export and import Chrome passwords.
In previous versions, you can start the Chrome browser, then enter chrome://flags or about://flags in the address bar and press Enter.
2 In the Chrome Flags window , press Ctrl+F and search Import and export password. The corresponding flag entry must be highlighted. This flag is available for all major desktop operating systems and can be used to export or import your registered passwords directly into Chrome. Select Enabled from the drop-down menu to activate the flag. Now restart your browser for the changes to take effect.
3 After restarting the browser, access the Chrome Settings menu by typing chrome://settings in the address bar. Scroll down and click Show Advanced Settings.
4 Scroll down in Advanced settings for section Passwords and forms.
5. click the Manage Passwords link to manage your saved passwords, as shown in the image above. A new window with all registered passwords should open.
6 Scroll down the list and look for the Export and Import buttons at the bottom of the list.

(7. click Export to download all your password entries to your PC. You will be prompted to enter your Windows User Account password for authorization.
8 Once the Windows password has been entered and confirmed, you can save your passwords in one CSV (Comma Separated Values) file format on your PC.
9 If you want to import a password into your Chrome browser and save it in saved passwords, you can create a CSV file with the following values specified in the file :
- Name : Name of the website where you have the account
- URL : Login URL for the website
- Username : Your active user name on the Website
- Password : Password for said user name
10. The Import button allows you to import your saved passwords.
This little experimental feature can be useful if you want to have a backup of your passwords stored in Chrome so you can recover them in case of unforeseen circumstances in your browser.

In Chrome 65.x, import/export flags have been added :
chrome://flags/#passwordImport
chrome://flags/#passwordExport
Select Enabled, then close ALL chrome windows and restart them, and you can import/export your passwords to a file.
