Manual copy of the desktop folder in the system profile
If you look closely at the error message, it will search for your desktop under C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile. However, the usual location of the desktop is under C:\Users\<username>\Desktop. They are assigned internally. So, to fix this problem if it works, follow these steps:
- Copy C:\Users\<username>\Desktop
- Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\config\system profile
- Paste the folder of the desktop you just copied.
- Restart your computer and check if the problem is solved.
- If you cannot see your desktop folder, change the display settings to show and hide hidden files.
Use System Restore
1. Open System Restore
In the Windows 10 search field, search for System Restore and choose Create a restore point from the list of results. When the System Properties dialog box appears, click the System Protection tab and then click the Configure button.
2 Enable system recovery
Click here to enable system protection, then use the Max Usage slider to determine how much of your hard disk should be used to store recovery points – 5% to 10% is usually enough – and click OK.
3. PC restoration
When you want to return to a recovery point, reopen the System Properties dialog box (see step 1), click the System Protection tab, and then click the Restore System button. Follow the instructions on the screen and, when prompted, select the desired recovery point.
Create a new user account
- Right-click on the Windows Start button.
- Select Control Panel.
- Select User Accounts.
- Choose Manage another account.
- In PC Settings, select Add new user.
- Use the Accounts dialog box to configure a new account.
