Twitch is a live streaming platform controlled by Amazon. It was first launched in 2011 under the name Justin.tv. Streaming has become very popular these days because Twitch is very popular. With the growth of the electronic sports industry, the streaming of ongoing tournaments has become a fundamental factor in the success of an event. It also helps organizers and other banners financially, while some now do it as a job. However, in some cases, it can be a little difficult to do what you like because you are facing some problems while trying to stream. One of these errors is the authentication error when a new test is running that appears while you are trying to stream.
This Twitch error can be easily fixed and is usually caused by your video restriction settings for Twitch, etc. We will propose solutions that you can use to solve the problem. But first let us look at the causes of the problem.
Configuring two-factor authentication (2FA)
To start configuring two-factor authentication, the following elements are required:
- A verified Twitch account (your email linked to your Twitch account must be verified to activate 2FA).
- Access to a computer (2FA can only be activated from the desktop)
- Once your account is verified and you are ready to configure 2FA:
- Go to the security settings page.
- Select Enable two-factor authentication.
- Enter your Twitch password.
- Enter your phone number.
- Enter the confirmation code you will receive by SMS or the Authy application (if you are already an Authy user).

AUTHY INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR DESKTOP
- Download the Authy Desktop application from the Authy website.
- Once downloaded, launch the Authy application.
- Enter your country code and phone number.
- Choose how you want to receive your token: Existing device, SMS or phone call.
- When asked, verify your identity by allowing the request to be made from another Authy device you are currently using.
- You should now see “Twitch” in the Authy application under your 2FA accounts.
- Recommended additional step: Go to Settings and enable the master password to ensure that only you can generate tokens for your Authy accounts on your desktop.
Disable video restriction
As mentioned above, the video restriction setting seems to be the cause of the problem. You can limit the quality of the feed to different viewers, but in some cases, because of affiliates, no one can watch the feed. You must therefore deactivate it. Here’s how to do it:
- Open Twitch.
- Click on the image of your profile at the top right, then click again on the image of your profile as soon as the menu appears.
- Now go to the Channel and Videos tab.
- Then access the partner settings.
- Scroll down to the Videos section.
- Uncheck the Access Restriction option and make sure that all videos are free in all their qualities.
Try using another web browser.
To solve this problem, try using another web browser. You can use any browser, but we recommend UR Browser.
If you are unfamiliar with UR Browser, it is a privacy-oriented browser with useful features such as tracking, privacy and malware protection.
There is also an integrated VPN and an adblocker. So if you want a secure and reliable browser, UR Browser may be the right choice for you.
That should be enough. You can also clear your browser’s cache and check the connection. However, Twitch is not able to recover the flow key error, which almost always occurs because you do not have 2FA enabled on your account.
