This Mass Effect Andromeda problem has existed since the game’s release in 2017. Some players see a “save data” error when trying to continue playing the game. This problem is reported to occur on Xbox One and PS4.
If you want to fix this problem, you need to start with a simple cold start process (power cycle). This process is confirmed to work on both consoles and erases all temperature data stored on the power capacitors.
However, the data saving error may be entirely related to the game. The design of this game provides for the maximum number of autosaves that the game can create. However, in older versions of the game, this limitation would not prevent the system from creating entirely new ones – they were still created, but were partially corrupted and unusable. To solve this problem, you need to delete all irrelevant saved games (and corrupted instances) from your Xbox or PS4 console.
If you have a problem on your PS4 and the error mentions that the game content is not installing, it is most likely a licensing issue. If this is the case, you can solve the problem by restoring all your game licenses.
And if nothing works, you can probably conclude that you have encountered a basic corruption problem or a corrupted memory set that cannot be repaired. In that case, your only hope of solving the problem is to reset your console to factory settings and see if that fixes the data logging error.
Deleting Saved Games (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One)
In this case, you can solve the problem by manually deleting unnecessary entries from the “Save Games” folder. Again, there are two different ways to do this for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. We’re both listed below.
Delete saved game data on the PlayStation 4
- Swipe up from the main toolbar menu and select “Settings” from the vertical menu.
- Scroll through the list of options and select “Manage Saved App Data.”
- Select Data saved in the system storage, and then select Erase.
- A list of all your saved game data can be found in the Delete Stored Data (System Storage) menu. Browse this list and find the Mass Effect :: Andromeda entry.
- Select the entry above and click “Options”. Now select each unnecessary entry and click “Delete”.
- Reboot your PlayStation 4 and check to see if the data logging error has been resolved.

Check the external hard drive
If the error occurs when you try to run a game/application from an external hard drive or even during the game, it means that it is not working properly and you need to fix it.
This error usually occurs after the PS4 system has already recognized and approved the external hard drive. So, the external hard drive works fine on the PS4 until this error occurs.
The problem is not serious if the external hard drive does not make clicking / squealing noises. More often than not, it is damaged sectors that affect the functionality of the drive and you need to get rid of them.
You can connect the external hard drive to another PS4 to make sure that it is fully serviceable and functional. This ensures that it is in no way caused by your external hard drive, whether the data on the drive is corrupted or the drive itself is not working properly.
If you are convinced that your external hard drive is not working properly, try plugging it into your PC and performing a full format operation. Hopefully, this will bring the performance back to its original state and fix the problem.
