Right-clicking a file and selecting Send to > E-mail Recipient is one of the most convenient options in Microsoft Windows 10. Windows 10 is a modern operating system that is constantly evolving with new features. Of course, some of the characteristics that have existed for years are still there. A good example is the context menu Send to. This is the menu you get when you right-click on a document, photo or other item, and gives you options to know where to send it.
If your computer does not have the “Email recipient” option, proceed as follows.
This happens when the Mail Recipient file (Mail Recipient.MAPIMail) is deleted from the SendTo folder of your user profile. A copy of the file exists in each user profile as well as in the default user profile. To restore the file and the Recipient of Mail item from the Send To menu, do one of the following.
Create the recipient of the e-mail in the Sent to list.
- Hold down the “Windows” key and press “R” to open the Run window.
- Type the following, then press Enter :
appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo - A window appears. Check the View tab and make sure the File Name Extensions check box is selected.
- Right-click on an empty area of the window, then select New > Text Document.
- Name the file “MailRecipient.MAPIMail”.
Note: Be careful not to leave the”.TXT” extension in the file.

If you do not need to hold down the Shift key, you can add one of these key combinations (or any other key combination) to the Send to Switch menu by adding the key combination to the SendTo folder in Windows Explorer.
Simply type shell:sendto in the address bar of each Windows Explorer window to open the SendTo folder. Click and drag any shortcut into this folder and the item will appear in the default Send to Context menu.
Here is the easiest way to add program options:
- Press the Windows key and “R” simultaneously to open the Run Windows command.
- Enter the type “shell:sendto
- This opens the window with all the options where you can send the file.
- Don’t you see the desired program? Locate the original file, create a shortcut and drag it to this folder.
- To find Microsoft Outlook, search for the software by typing “Outlook.exe” in the Windows search bar. It should appear, but instead of immediately clicking on the name (which opens the program), right-click on it to find its location.
- Now create a shortcut. Right-click the file again and you will see the Create Shortcut option in the menu. Do it and drag the new shortcut to the Send To folder.
- Now, try it. Find the photo, document or other file you want to send to a friend via Outlook. Right-click and search for “Send to” and select the new sharing function.
