Windows creates and saves 50 default minidump files. These mini dump files are located in the directory %SystemRoot%Minidump.
If you are a geek who needs to use these dump files to fix a computer crash, then the last 50 dump files may be useful ! 😉
Otherwise, they will just end up eating disk space.
If you wish, you can reduce the number of dump files created by Windows.
Open regedit and navigate to the next key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetCrashCrashControl
Double-click MiniDumpsCount and modify its value data.
The default value in Windows is 32 hexadecimal or 50 decimal. Reduce the decimal value to 10 if only the last 10 minidump files should be saved.
How to read and analyze the minidumps that Windows creates may also interest you !
