If not touched, the Windows 10 lock screen turns off and turns off your screen after one minute. Whether you want to keep your lock screen open longer or simply keep Cortana available on the lock screen, there is a way to change the delay settings for your lock screen. There are some things you need to do in your Windows registry to add the lock screen expiration time setting to your Windows 10 power options.
Windows turns off the screen after 60 seconds if the system is locked, regardless of power settings. The display turns off when the system is locked, even if you have configured Windows to never turn off the display when the device is connected to a power source.
The Windows Registry, commonly referred to as the “Registry”, is a collection of databases containing all Windows configuration settings. The registry is used to store information about software programs, hardware devices, user settings, operating system configurations and other important Windows PC systems and processes.
Adding waiting time settings to power options by manually modifying the registry
To add the wait time setting to the power options, simply adjust it to a setting in the Windows registry.
Default warning: The registry editor is a powerful tool that can make your system unstable or even ineffective in case of abuse. It’s a pretty simple hack, and as long as you follow the instructions, you shouldn’t have any problems. However, if you have never worked with him before, you should consider how to use the registry editor before you start. And permanently save the registry (and your computer!) before making any changes.

Using the PowerCfg.exe utility
You can use the PowerCfg.exe Power Options utility to configure the display delay that is used when the PC is in an unlocked state and when it is on a locked screen. From an administrative prompt, you can use the following commands to control the display time. Just follow these steps:
- Press start and type “cmd”.
- In the search results, right-click on “cmd” and select “Open as administrator” to enter the high prompt environment.
- Type the following command “each time you replace the time in seconds with your preferred number.
powercfg.exe /setacvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_VIDEO VIDEOIDLE <time in seconds>
powercfg.exe /setacvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_VIDEO VIDEOCONLOCK <time in seconds>
powercfg.exe /setactive SCHEME_CURRENT
The VIDEOIDLE delay is used when the PC is unlocked and the VIDEOCONLOCK delay is used when the PC is on a locked screen. If the screen saver time is shorter than the VIDEOIDLE time, the lock screen is activated before the monitor turns off during the dead time. The screensaver can be adjusted by adjusting the appearance and control panel.
These commands define the waiting time used when connecting the system and using the power supply. To set the DC power (battery) waiting time, use the /setdcvalueindex switch instead of /setacvalueindex.
