Can I use Windows 10 on other devices after the upgrade?
Microsoft has clearly stated that people must first upgrade their older operating systems to Windows 10, instead of performing a clean installation of Windows 10 for the first time. This means that if you want Windows 10, you will need to upgrade to Windows 10 for the first time using the existing installation. This helps Microsoft register your device ID so that it can continue to provide free updates for the life of the device.
Once you have registered your username with Microsoft, you can properly install Windows 10 on the same computers. However, you cannot perform a clean installation directly, as Windows must check the existing operating system to determine if it is real and it needs the device ID so that you cannot move your existing Windows installation to another device. Some websites have written that registering Windows 10 installations could help them move the installation to another device. This will not be possible because Windows 10 notes the device ID that prevents it from working on other devices.
