Chrome users may have noticed that when using the browser on their Windows computer, a small grey bell icon may sometimes appear in the taskbar notification area. I occasionally use chrome and I was confused to see how it looked.

If you wish, you can disable or disable Google Now notifications. To temporarily disable these bell icon notifications, right-click the icon and select one of the options listed :
- Do not disturb
- Do not disturb for one hour
- Do not disturb for one day.
To completely and permanently disable Google Now Cards in Chrome, click the icon to open the Notifications Center. In the notification center, click the gear icon in the lower right corner and uncheck the box next to Google Now. This will disable Google Now notifications. However, other chrome notifications may also appear. So if it doesn’t help you, here’s what you do:
Open your Web browser Chrome, type chrome://flags and press Enter.
Search for Enable rich notifications. From the drop-down menu, select Off.
Note: Things seem to have changed in later versions of Chrome. If you don’t see the option above or if it doesn’t help, disable options Enable support for Google Now notifications and Enable experimental synchronized notifications and see if it helps.
Restart Chrome.
You no longer see the bell icon or Google Now notifications in your Windows taskbar.
Google may not have given users a choice as to whether or not to receive these notifications, but if you don’t need to, you can disable these annoying notifications using this procedure.
